Applications to become an assessor are now closed

The Longitude Prize on Dementia delivery team are looking for individuals with a broad range of skills and backgrounds to support with assessing applications submitted to the prize.

Assessor Requirements

  • We require assessors that are proficient in English.

  • We would like for there to be a good mix of genders and nationalities represented in the assessor pool.

We do not mandate assessors to disclose this information, and we will not discriminate based on any information shared.

  • Assessors must be unbiased and external to the Longitude Prize on Dementia.

Process and Commitment

As an assessor you will be asked to complete assessments of eligible entries to the Longitude Prize on Dementia over the course of two weeks from 30 January – 13 February 2023.

Prior to the assessment period, we will invite assessors to attend a training session, on either of the following dates:

Thursday 12 January 2023: 10:00-11:00 (GMT)

Thursday 19 January 2023: 15:00-16:00 (GMT)/
10:00-11:00 (ET)

Two or three assessors will review each eligible entry. Entries will be ranked based on a combined average of scores and the external judging panel will review a moderated shortlist of entries.

The judging panel will then meet to review the shortlist and select the discovery award winners, who will progress to the next stage of the challenge.

Assessing an entry

Assessment of applications will entail:

  • Scoring entries against assessment criteria. Prior to the training sessions, we will provide scoring guidance.
  • Recommending entries for shortlist.
  • Writing additional comments or feedback to support recommendations.

We will ask assessors to review up to 30 applications, which we expect to last ~20 minutes per applications. We do not expect assessors to be available for the entire duration of the assessment period.

Honorarium

As a thank you for your support and participation, we will be offering an honorarium £120 per assessment.

Eligibility

Those looking to apply to the prize are not eligible to be an assessor.
